“She began to walk forward, crunch-crunch over the snow and through the wood toward the other light. In about ten minutes she reached it and found it was a lamp-post.” - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Chapter One: "Lucy Looks into a Wardrobe"

This original, hand done painting celebrates the iconic scene in which Lucy Pevensie comes through the wardrobe into the land of Narnia and finds the lamp-post in a place where it is always winter and never Christmas. Fair-haired Lucy stands in wonder in the circle of light cast by the famous lamp-post in C.S. Lewis' beloved tale, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Details you might like to notice if you bring home a museum-quality print of this painting:

    • Lucy's hair is fair, as in the books
    • She is wearing a Fair Isle cardigan and skirt, because this is before the four Pevensie children enter the wardrobe together wearing their borrowed coats
    • By the time Lucy reaches the lamp-post, she can no longer quite see where the wardrobe was, but you, as the viewer, can glimpse daylight through it in the far distance of this painting

I am a Tolkien Society Award-winning fine artist, and the author of two Tolkien-inspired art books, The Art of Mercy in Middle-earth and A Shire Walking-Party. In addition to painting scenes from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, I am also building a collection of portrayals of his lifetimes and connections. Tolkien's friendship with C.S. Lewis is a story countless people celebrate, and you can see my depiction of the two of them on Addison's Walk, as well as my depiction of C.S. Lewis at Holy Trinity Church for more information about the very special friendship between these two literary giants.

I have been visiting Narnia since childhood, and have tried to imbue into the lamplight of this painting the warm feelings I have about the light Lewis lit for the world with both his Chronicles and his apologetics. Hanging this print in your home can be a reminder of what you value about the author and his great works.
