In this original painting of Lothlorien, the Fellowship experiences much needed renewal by wandering beneath the golden mallorn trees. An elf watches from a flet high above as three elves bring a meal to the pavilion where Merry and Pippin, Gimli and Legolas, Boromir and Aragorn wait. In the foreground, Frodo walks along the streambank in safety for the time being, while Sam admires the elanor and niphredil.
 
J.R.R. Tolkien described the niphredil as resembling snowdrops, and the elanor as a large, golden version of pimpernel, and I have tried to capture these here. As a native Californian, I have also attempted to communicate the awe I have felt growing up amid the towering redwood forests of my homeland. Such woodlands form a lasting impression on the mind and heart, and as we accompany the Fellowship on their perilous journey, we, too, become refreshed by the golden days in Lothlorien.
