“And there's more to it even than that. For I shall be surprised if the King doesn't bid us to his great house by Lake Evendim.” - The End of the Third Age, Second Unpublished Epilogue to The Lord of the Rings; JRR Tolkien and Christopher Tolkien

Some 15 years after the War of the Ring, King Elessar processes to the Brandywine Bridge, there to meet Sam Gamgee's family before proceeding to Lake Evendim - the former capitol of the lost North Kingdom. In this serene scene of peace in the Days of the King, we get a glimpse of what Frodo and his friends won for Middle-earth.

These events are recalled in the second "Epilogue" to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Some details to notice about your print:

    • Elfstone and Evenstar promenade amid the wild daffodils and flowering plums with their friends as a court musician serenades them upon a Númenorean stringed instrument.
    • Sam is quite literally garlanded with his children. Little Hamfast is sleeping on his shoulders, tiny Primrose is carried in front, and one of my favorites - Goldilocks - holds his hand, pointing at the flowers.
    • Rose carries the littlest child at this point in time - baby Bilbo.
    • Pippin and Merry run ahead of the group, bearing the hobbit lanterns which they've been teaching their new friends to make in the camp.
    • Elanor is old enough to carry baby Daisy as she strolls with little Rosie, and we catch a glimpse of 14-year-old Prince Eldarion walking with young Frodo.
    • Beautiful pavilions have been set up on the shore for any who wish to feast or sleep under the stars instead of in the King's great house.

A longing for peace is humanity's hope. Celebrate the return of the King and the ensuing years of joy by hanging a museum-quality print of this original, hand-done painting in your home.
